Am I the best fit for your family?
When I began photographing families, well over a decade ago, I’ll be honest: I wanted to be the BEST fit for EVERY family that inquired about hiring me. That was a lofty goal for sure but also a really dumb one, and I’m okay admitting it. By working with every client I could, I was actually learning WHO I was a photographer but also who I wanted to work with. If you’ve been around for a bit you know my story and that as busy mom of 4 boys, our family of 6 was a lot. Organized chaos, (at best in the early days), but the realness of life, the authenticity of family, and knowing who we are was perfectly imperfect, shaped me in knowing who my clients were. Once I realized this, I was able to shape my business in a way that brought me clients that aligned with my approach to family photography.

So, how do you know if I am the best fit for your family?
You value connection & authentic interactions over perfection & formality
It’s often a misconception that all the moments of connection happen as candids or lucky snaps of the “in-between” of your session. My work is purposeful and my posing, intentional; the perfect companion to my mindful direction. Families come to me knowing their gallery is full of visual love letters – images that convey emotion and lasting joy. My families are willing to cheerfully participate and engage with each other. If, like me, your idea of an authentic family portrait, is no one looking at the camera and everyone engaging, then let’s get your family scheduled!
Your family wants an experience that is relaxed, enjoyable, and doesn’t feel like a chore
I pride myself on family sessions that leave everyone feeling like they were “so short but so much fun” as once stated from a teenage boy. If you have a teenage boy, or work with teenagers, you know this is basically the same as Michelin Star. Our time is a precious resource that can’t be extended; and that is of deep value to me. Our time together is about capturing your family in this moment; as they truly are, while providing long lasting (visual) love letters for years to come.
From our initial conversations through the entire session, my goal is making sure your family is relaxed! Leave redirection to me; maintain the trust you already have in me. Check out more on preparing for your family session.

Your family is flexible and while location matters, it’s not the main focus
Austin, Dripping Springs, Driftwood, and the surrounding Hill Country provide such a variety of locations – from the modern urban areas to the rustic and quintessentially Texas outdoors. While location is important, it’s not the driving factor of your session; your family is. Central Texas weather can be unpredictable, and basically hot all the time, having flexibility in location gives you one less thing to stress about (see the point above). Trust me to work with your family to find what backdrop will be best fit for your family.
Your family is open to balancing silly & goofy with affection & tenderness
If formal, all posed and polished, is what you’re wanting, I’m not your gal. There is a time and place for formal portraits, my sessions are not those times. There plenty of talented photographers that you should hire for those images and you should, if that’s what you want!
I love my clients because they, like my family, are truly perfectly imperfect! Family is loud, loving, tender, silly, serious, complicated. This is how we live, how we survive (toddler years AND teenage driving years), and what we need to embrace! Come ready to laugh, play a game or two, snuggle, giggle, hear some mild embarrassing things (toddlers and teens, again), and share loving on your people (and moms, for you to be loved on by your people). If your family is open being authentic and up for pretty much anything, then I am 100% the best fit for your family! If your family has older kiddos (tweens & teens) check out a little more on my approach to working/posing families with older kids.

We are a perfect fit! Now what?!
The next thing to do is to reach out and get a session on the calendar! I promise our time together will be something you value for years to come. Your family will have an experience, and gallery, that captures your family authentically and as the perfectly imperfect people you know and love!
